Aston Villa vs Man Utd Review

Another 1-0 win! I say this with mixed emotions. We got the three points but did we do it in style?? I asked myself weather Man City, Barcelona or Real Madrid would have won 1-0 against the same Aston Villa team, and the answer was simple NO they would have won by a much bigger margin.

This saddens me because as a reds supporter I want to see my team playing the same football as the Barcelona's of the world, but as has been demonstrated we are far off. Maybe a change of tactics is needed, maybe new players are needed or maybe a complete overhaul of tactics and management  is needed. I want to see what you think please feel free to comment on what you think is needed.

In my opinion the team selection Alex used was poor. I feel that the most underrated player in the United team is Ji-Sung Park and Alex should have played him. He is the hardest worker in the United squad and can play in numerous positions. He can attack he can defend. I feel he should play in a more central role where he can play a similar role to Scott Parker of Tottenham. He is what we need and whats better is we don't need to buy him.

One thing is sure in my mind, Michael Carrick is not of the standard required to compete against the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. I am sure Park will work harder than him and also display the same passing range as him.

Again we showed a lack of killer instinct. We had the chances to finish them of but again we didn't take our chances and we scraped through with another 1-0 victory. Perhaps i am being to harsh but I still feel we are below par when we compare ourselves to the best in the world.

Highlights of the Match

Phil Jones
It would be unfair of me to skip Phil Jones. He played superbly and this was rewarded with his goal. He had a great game and this wasn't his first. All season he has been playing superbly and in my opinion he has been United's best player this season.

Javier Hernandez
Hernandez is expected to be out for a month after he went down in the seventh minute after trying to make a run and in the process twisting his ankle. With Berbatov also out Danny Welbeck is expected to play in the striker role for the next couple games just in front of Rooney. Hopefully he add to his tally of goals.

Okay so our next game is against Aston Villa, and the way we are performing right now it looks like its going to be a cracker of a match. I would even put my money on Villa to take it from us.

Why, some would ask? The answer is simple. The next match is an AWAY match witch could be devastating for us if we want to keep that second spot. Over the last couple of seasons our away form has been poor to say the least, with our home wins being our key success point. This poor away form has also been present this year with narrow wins against the likes of Swansea and Sunderland. 

So this next match against Aston Villa could prove a uphill task. Hopefully after Alex Ferguson's apology to the fans for the teams recent performance against Crystal Palace, the team will give a good performance.
